An Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) indicates the energy efficiency and environmental impact of a property, rated on a scale from A-G. Current running costs for heating, hot water and lighting will also be shown, together with a list of recommended energy saving and environmental improvements.
For rental properties, it is a legal requirement to obtain an Energy Performance Certificate when a property without a certificate is marketed to let. An EPC must be provided to any prospective tenant. EPCs are also a mandatory requirement for domestic properties marketed for sale which are included in a Home Information Pack.
To produce an EPC, an energy survey is required at the property. This normally takes 30-45 minutes on site with a collection of data and photographic evidence. One of our surveyors will book an appointment with you or your tenant. Once the data has been collected, an EPC is created using government approved software and on completion emailed along with an energy graph.
